Next morning 9am start to 1-2 hour drive to the everglades, airboat ride takes off from a place which is just as you imagine, v v rustic, red heads, (no I mean redheads, not rednecks, beerbellies, good old boys etc. ... and we ate lunch there! Anyway there was a talk & feel of the boa & a little alligator. Then off on the boat in the rain, lots of sightings along the side of the boat, it's alright for him - the driver - he's high, sitting in the boat you are very close to the water. I had a hot pink tshirt on & the driver was having a laugh saying it was lucky I was on the end of the row, as alligators loved pink & I would attract them & this proved to be the case as there were many sightings on my side of the boat, & in one particular instance when he nearly ran over one on my side.... glad I had my brown pants on.
After that off to Florida city another large metropolis , have formed opinion Florida densely populated, & why the hell so many people want to live in this bloody weather I don't know, as it is sooooo humid & hot & for me each day is another straw after 6 years in Darwin.
