Philly

Very early start for long trip to NY city, for some unknown reason we went via Philadelphia, making the trip quite long. Stopped to see Independence Hall where the Declaration of Independence was debated & decided in 1787, but built earlier, & when this happened the Libery Bell was rung, on display but long lineup in the blazing sun, so looked through the window instead. Also timed ticket which we did not have for Independence Hall which looked very cute, so we walked around the streets, full of character & quirky little shops, but only an hour to get lunch. We were meant to be getting Philly speciality Beefsteak  sandwich with cheese, but the look of it reminded us of the awful beef sandwich we had had at Arbys at petrol stop in Mississipi, sweet bread. Anyway found CUban cafe Rosa Blanca - a Jose Garces (American Iron CHef) What decided us was that they had a proper coffee machine (as apposed to push button - which is everywhere, even coffee chains like Starbucks & coffee appears to be made with liquid concentrate with hot water added & is such awful crap coffee not sure why they bother ..... & it's all coffee, they don't drink tea!!
Anyway back to cafe Rosa Blanca, Pat & I shared a Cuban cobb salad,  really very good & at last coffee we could enjoy, first one on American soil!
